Yavor Dimitrov is a musician, pianist and composer. Graduated from the National Academy of Music “Prof. P. Vladigerov” in the specialty Piano with Prof. B. Starshenov and Prof. A. Dikov. At the same time he studied composition with Prof. M. Pekov. In 1993 he received a diploma from Johns Hopkins University (USA) for successful participation and defense projects for the structure and way of creating organizations, associations, foundations and others related to civil society.
Since 2009 Yavor Dimitrov has been teaching at the New Bulgarian University, Director of the Art Management Program, Public Administration Department. From 1984-2009 he was a lecturer at the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov”, Sofia. In the period 1993-1997 he was Director of the National Center for Music and Dance at the Ministry of Culture. From 2002 to 2014 he was General Director of the Sofia Philharmonic. Since September 2019 he has been the director of the Bulgarian National Radio Music House.
Among the awards and recognitions for his activity are high honors, diplomas and awards from the Ministry of Culture, Sofia Municipality, national and international competitions and events; Golden Pen, Classic FM Award for Contribution to Bulgarian Culture, Golden Lyre Award of the Union of Bulgarian Music and Dance Figures and Iron Cross – Order of the President of Austria for Outstanding Merits to the Republic of Austria, as well as many others.
